09.02.1945 – Kehlen

Kehlen: Joh. Jos. Fero, a 10-year-old schoolboy from Grevenmacher who was evacuated here with his mother, was the victim of a serious accident on Friday. In the afternoon, he had gone to a field with a farmer, sitting on the cart. As he was getting off the cart, he unfortunately jumped onto a landmine lying on the ground. A violent explosion occurred, shattering both of the unfortunate boy’s legs and partially severing his right hand. An American car took the child to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Luxembourg, where he soon died from severe blood loss.
