Todesursache: mine

WASSERBILLIG: Three boys belonging to the widow Sturm, aged 9, 12, and 14, were collecting mines in the Mesenich district without their mother’s knowledge. Last Wednesday, they were again engaged in this dangerous pastime when a mine exploded, killing one of the boys instantly. Dr. Reuland, a physician from Wasserbillig, was immediately summoned and attended to the other two boys, ordering one of them to be transferred to the hospital in Grevenmacher. Despite the best efforts of Dr. Huberty, he could not be saved. The third child also suffered severe injuries. Our deepest sympathies go out to the grieving mother, whose husband was electrocuted just two years ago.
