Todesursache: grenade

BLUMENTHAL: A tragic accident occurred at the home of farmer Al. Petry, who lived in Jeanharishof near Junglinster. A grenade found in the fields had been placed on the clock in the living room as a souvenir. When the projectile unexpectedly fell to the floor, it detonated violently. The 50-year-old Alois Petry was killed instantly, and his 9-year-old daughter, Margot Petry, was so severely injured that she died shortly after being admitted to a hospital in the capital. Alois Petry’s wife sustained only minor injuries and was able to return home after a one-day stay in the hospital. The family aunt suffered a leg injury, and the farmhand, named Kessler, also required hospital treatment for his injuries.
