Todesursache: mine

HOFFELT: Tragically, two auxiliary police officers, Wilhelm Wenkin from Weiler (Helzingen) and Johann Stephany from Huldingen, as well as forest worker Johann Mathias from Helzingen, lost their lives in an accident this week. All three were killed by exploding ammunition. Wenkin and Stephany had served in the “Armée Blanche” during the Nazi occupation of Belgium. For their dedicated service, both were promoted to corporal, and their achievements were commended in a daily order. Mathias leaves behind a widow and a child. The community extends its deepest condolences to their grieving families.
