Todesursache: US proximity fuze

DIFFERDINGEN: On Monday at approximately 1:40 p.m., a serious accident occurred in the workshop of the electrical assembly department at Hadir Differdange, tragically claiming one life. Electrician Georges Nilles from Differdange had found an object which he apparently believed to be an electrical device. While handling it, a powerful explosion suddenly occurred, and Nilles and his colleague Ed. Tamenne from Athus were severely injured by flying debris. Colleagues rushed to the scene and immediately attended to the injured men. Nilles succumbed to his injuries en route to the emergency room. Tamenne was taken to the mine hospital in near-prognosis. Nilles’s death is all the more tragic as his wife has already lost a son in the war. Edmond Tamenne, 30, is married and has a minor child. We wish him a speedy recovery.
