While 15-year-old Fred Daufeld and his uncle Ludovicy were picking apples in the remote village of Langsur, Daufeld inadvertently stepped on a mine hidden in the grass, which exploded immediately. Both were seriously injured and taken to a hospital in the capital, where Daufeld succumbed to his injuries the following day. Ludovicy’s condition is very serious. The family, who have suffered greatly, has received widespread sympathy.
