Marcel Hinger, the customs inspector who was recently evacuated from his birthplace of Lorentzweiler, had come to this village with his brother to check on his belongings. In the bowling alley of his house, they stumbled upon a mine, which exploded immediately, seriously injuring both of them. Marcel Hinger was taken to the Vianden sanatorium with life-threatening wounds, where he died the following day. He was laid to rest in the churchyard of Lorentzweiler. He was married and the father of a five-year-old child.
